you do it like this:
simmer a little bit of curry powder in oil in, say, a dutch pot. Then add sugar and salt, and vegetables like chopped onions, sliced red and green peppers, and eggplant (garden egg) if you have it. Remove when just cooked. Then add about 1 pound sliced chicken breast. Sautee. Then add one whole can of coconut milk. Simmer for a while. I don't know, like 20 minutes. Then add back the vegetables. Keep it uncovered so the whole thing can boil down. If you can get fresh basil, add it (a handful) about five minutes before you turn off the fire.
