Every since I was young / 2 years ago I have despised the whole concept of the new year, new term or new start. At the beginning of every school year I would be enthusiastic about surviving another year, being given another chance to prove myself, make brave plans for the new semester and give up smoking. But I was just putting myself (once again!) in a trap that I had set the previous year and by the end of the semester I would be back at square one, below average, and a coward with cigarette buds in my coffee.
After doing that a few times I came to the conclusion that the whole idea of the new year is just a mirage to make you forget what your had learned doing the previous year. An evil cousin whom would visit for christmas and eat all your fruit cake and steal your presents get you in trouble and then send you a "I am really sorry" note from far away.
Nowadays nothing starts over, I look at everything as a long process of steps created to torture you until you give up or die trying (level 8-3 mario bros). I keep my computer hibernated (that is when you set up computer to keep all you windows open when you turn it off) for months on end. Because I would surely forget the wisdom gained the day before. I don't like resolutions either, resolutions are for sissies.
